Indonesian Police Summon YouTuber Bigmo Over Alleged Minor Vape Promotion

Indonesian authorities are investigating YouTuber Muhammad Jannah, widely known as Bigmo, for allegedly involving minors in the promotion of e-cigarette liquid during a live streaming session. The Metro Jaya Regional Police have scheduled Bigmo for clarification on Monday, August 10th, concerning the accusations.

The investigation is being conducted by the Directorate of Child Protection and Women's Violence Prevention. Investigators have already interviewed witnesses who saw and saved video evidence of the alleged promotion. They have also collected materials including live stream recordings, video clips, and supporting documents. Furthermore, statements have been taken from the parents of the four children who appeared in the video, with family members present during the interviews. The police have also visited PT TLI to understand its working relationship with the accused YouTuber.

This case has drawn attention from the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, who condemned the exploitation of children for product promotion as a serious violation. She emphasized the need to protect children from all forms of digital exploitation, stating that content involving children promoting vape products is unacceptable.

In response to the controversy, Bigmo released a video apology on his YouTube channel, Niceguymo. He acknowledged his actions as a mistake and expressed deep regret for the public outcry. "I admit that what I did was a mistake and cannot be justified," he stated in the apology video, seeking forgiveness for the incident.
