Indonesian Racers Seek Sultan's Blessing for International Competitions

Indonesian motorcycle racers Veda Ega Pratama and Mario Suryo Aji paid a visit to Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, the Governor of Yogyakarta and Sultan of the Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace. The meeting took place at the Keraton Kilen Yogyakarta on Sunday evening, July 19, 2026.

The purpose of the visit was for the young athletes to seek blessings and support as they prepare for upcoming international racing competitions, including the MotoGP Indonesia event scheduled for October 9-11, 2026, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit.

Ahmad Fajar, the acting President Director of InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), highlighted the rarity of Indonesian riders competing in Moto3 and Moto2. He noted that Veda Ega Pratama is a resident of Yogyakarta, making the visit to the Sultan particularly significant. Mario Suryo Aji, though from Magetan, also paid respects as part of the Mataraman tradition.

Fajar expressed optimism that the presence of these Indonesian "local heroes" would inspire a new generation of talent and enhance the excitement of the MotoGP Indonesia event. He believes their participation will contribute to Indonesia's growing presence on the world stage.
