Indonesian Shipping Company Partners with Anti-Corruption Agency

PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) has partnered with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to enhance oversight of its fuel oil (BBM) bunkering processes. This collaboration involves monitoring the refueling of vessels, specifically the KM Sabuk Nusantara 92, at Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya.

The joint monitoring follows previous oversight activities conducted with the KPK in Jakarta during July. The current initiative in Surabaya is part of a broader effort to supervise fuel bunkering and management across PELNI's operational network. Key PELNI officials, including the Vice President of Law and Compliance and the Vice President of BBM, were present, along with representatives from PT Pertamina Patra Niaga and Sucofindo surveyors.

Ditto Pappilanda, Corporate Secretary of PELNI, emphasized the company's commitment to strengthening supervision and ensuring transparent and accountable fuel management. "PELNI is committed to continuously strengthening supervision and ensuring that BBM management is carried out transparently and accountably," Pappilanda stated. He added that the collaboration with the KPK and other stakeholders is crucial for ensuring that field processes adhere to proper procedures and good corporate governance principles.

Pappilanda further explained that the supervision extends beyond the refueling process itself. PELNI is also reinforcing its record-keeping and control over BBM usage during vessel operations to ensure that consumption is monitored and can be accounted for. Surabaya is the second location for this KPK-led bunkering process monitoring, following an initial session in Jakarta.

This initiative underscores PELNI's dedication to strengthening transparency, accountability, and compliance in its fuel oil management. The phased monitoring across various PELNI branches aims to ensure that the processes of fuel filling and management are implemented effectively in practice.
