The Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has issued a firm assurance that the 2026 Economic Census will not be linked to tax collection. This clarification aims to encourage public trust and participation by addressing potential concerns about data privacy.

Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, head of BPS, stated that the information provided by the public during the census will be kept confidential. She urged individuals who have not yet been surveyed to participate, emphasizing that the data collected is crucial for understanding the nation's economic activities. BPS is also offering an alternative for those who prefer to submit their information independently. An online questionnaire is available, and citizens can obtain the link from census officers. This option provides flexibility for individuals who may have busy schedules or prefer to complete the census at their own pace. The agency believes this will help ensure more comprehensive data collection.

Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, also received BPS census officers at his residence and completed the survey. Muzani expressed his hope for a smooth census process and encouraged widespread participation, highlighting the importance of accurate economic data for informed policymaking.
