Indonesian Vice President Inaugurates National Flag-Raising Troop

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka presided over the official inauguration of 76 members of the national flag-raising troop, Paskibraka, at the State Palace in Central Jakarta. These selected youths, representing all 38 provinces of Indonesia, are preparing to undertake the significant duty of raising the national flag during the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's Independence Day ceremony.

The solemn ceremony, held on Saturday, August 15, commenced with the singing of the national anthem, "Indonesia Raya," followed by a moment of silence led by the Head of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), Yudian Wahyudi. Wahyudi then guided the Paskibraka members through an oath, affirming their loyalty to the homeland, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and their commitment to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

Following the oath, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, acting as the ceremony's supervisor, formally confirmed the Paskibraka members for 2026. He symbolically presented them with their insignia. Julita Rista Lestari, a representative from East Kalimantan, then had the honor of kissing the Red and White flag, accompanied by the patriotic song "Padamu Negeri."

The event concluded around 2:14 PM Western Indonesian Time. Vice President Gibran engaged with the newly inaugurated members, offering congratulations and brief conversations. Several high-ranking government officials were present, including the Minister of State Secretary, the Cabinet Secretary, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, and the Chief of the Indonesian National Police.
