Indonesian Welding Businesses Form Association to Boost Competence and Market Access

Indonesian welding businesses are uniting to elevate their industry, aiming for greater professionalism, competence, and market competitiveness. The newly formed Association of Indonesian Welding Entrepreneurs (APPI) held its inaugural national meeting in Jakarta, bringing together hundreds of welding entrepreneurs, steel construction industry players, academics, and stakeholders.

APPI's core mission, under the theme "Uniting to Build a Competitive National Welding Industry," is to gather, nurture, and empower welding businesses across Indonesia. Budi Harta Winata, elected as the National Chairman for 2026-2031, emphasized the need for welding workshops to evolve beyond mere survival into professional, productive, and innovative enterprises capable of competing nationally and globally.

The association plans to achieve this by enhancing human resource capacity through education, training, and certification. It will also focus on promoting the use of domestic products and services, expanding market access, strengthening partnerships, and facilitating access to financing for welding businesses. APPI also prioritizes improving quality standards and embracing digital transformation to boost productivity and competitiveness.

Established by the Indonesian Society of Steel Construction (ISSC) and the Indonesian Welding Workshop Community (KBLI), APPI aims to strengthen the ecosystem for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the welding sector. By improving competence, professionalism, innovation, and competitiveness, APPI anticipates that the sector will create more job opportunities and significantly contribute to Indonesia's infrastructure development and overall economy.
