Influencer Ana Gastélum denies relation to murdered TikToker César Gastélum

Social media influencer Ana Gastélum has publicly denied any familial connection to César Gastélum, a content creator who was fatally shot during a livestream on August 4 in Culiacán, Sinaloa.

The incident, which occurred outside a fast-food restaurant, was captured and circulated online, leading to widespread speculation. Users and some national media outlets drew a connection between the two influencers based solely on their shared surname.

Ana Gastélum, who boasts over 6 million TikTok followers and is known in Sinaloa as the wife of Kevin Castro, brother of content creator Markitos Toys, addressed the mounting pressure through Instagram posts. She emphasized that sharing a last name does not automatically imply a family relationship.

"My condolences to the family of the young man who they say was my brother, but he was not my relative. Not everyone who has the same last name is family," she wrote. Gastélum also pointed to content creator Mauricio Riveroll, known as Maurg1, for sharing a video where an AI incorrectly identified her and César Gastélum as siblings, further fueling misinformation.
