Influencer killed by husband weeks after accusing him of pedophilia

A TikTok influencer, Sara Gilson, 43, was killed in Owasso, Oklahoma, by her estranged husband, Jeremiah Duffey, less than two weeks after she publicly accused him of pedophilia on the platform. Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide.

Gilson, who had over 30,000 followers, posted a video on July 11 referencing a TikTok trend and accusing Duffey of being a pedophile. She wrote in the video's description, "I wish I was joking." This accusation followed a police report filed on June 9 by a minor and her parent. Duffey, who coached the minor's basketball team, was accused of inappropriate touching at an elementary school event.

Investigators learned Duffey might have engaged in similar behavior with the same minor over an extended period and across multiple states. Because Duffey was a member of the Osage tribe, the case was referred to federal prosecutors for review of indecent molestation charges. Following the investigation's initiation, police informed Gilson she could seek a protection order, which was issued on June 10, prohibiting Duffey from coming within 100 meters of her and her residence.

On Thursday evening, emergency dispatch received a domestic violence call. Operators heard a woman screaming, followed by what sounded like a gunshot. When they attempted to call back, no one answered. Shortly after, Gilson's son called 911 from a neighbor's house, telling officers his stepfather had shot his mother. Police found Gilson and Duffey deceased at the scene, both with apparent gunshot wounds to the head. Gilson is survived by her two children.
