Internal maneuvering in Congress: Peronism operates to overturn government's land law and preserve fire management rules

The Argentine Senate witnessed a significant legislative setback for the government as Peronism effectively dismantled crucial components of its proposed land and fire management laws. The bill, initially championed by Minister Federico Sturzenegger and Senator Patricia Bullrich, suffered major alterations, losing key chapters concerning the foreign ownership of land and the reform of fire management regulations.

Unlike previous instances where the opposition observed negotiations from the sidelines, Peronism actively orchestrated a strategy to undermine the government's initiative. A dedicated task force, comprising legislators like Juliana Di Tullio, José Mayans, Wado de Pedro, and Máximo Kirchner, alongside influential non-parliamentary figures such as Sergio Massa, spearheaded the opposition's efforts.
