International Conference on Care Ethics Research to be Held in Seoul

The 2026 Seoul International Consortium for Care Ethics Research (CERC) conference is set to convene from June 25 to 27 at Korea University's SK Future Hall. This marks the fourth iteration of the event and the first to be held in Asia.

Under the theme 'Rethinking Relationships Centered on Care: From the Perspectives of Politics, Ecology, and Culture,' the conference will host approximately 200 researchers from over 25 countries, participating both online and offline. The event will feature 31 panels covering care democracy, ecological care, and the ethics of care within cultural contexts, along with special panel sessions.

Notably, Joan Tronto, a globally recognized authority on care ethics and care democracy theory and Professor Emerita at the University of Minnesota, will attend. Following the conference, Tronto is scheduled to deliver lectures at Yonsei University and participate in a National Assembly debate.

The conference is organized and hosted by the Korea University Institute for Comparative Governance and the Organizing Committee, with support from Korea University, the Korea Tourism Organization, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
