Inuwa intensifies push for federal road projects, meets Umahi

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, is intensifying efforts to secure federal government support for critical road infrastructure projects within the state. These projects are deemed essential for boosting agricultural, commercial, industrial, and tourism development.

Governor Yahaya met with the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, in Abuja to advocate for swift progress on strategic federal road initiatives. A primary focus of their discussion was the Gombe-Biu section of the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe-Biu-Maiduguri Super Highway. This corridor, recently approved by the Federal Government, is considered vital for Gombe and the entire North-East region.

The governor has consistently engaged with federal authorities, including the Ministry of Works, to ensure the timely commencement of construction on the Gombe-Biu axis. His advocacy efforts culminated in the Minister's recent visit to Gombe for the project's groundbreaking ceremony, where he joined the governor and members of the National Assembly.

The Gombe-Biu axis of the super highway is a priority project of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

In addition to the super highway, Governor Yahaya requested the construction of northern and southern bypasses for Gombe metropolis. He explained that these bypasses would enhance connectivity, create strategic links to the Gombe-Biu corridor, alleviate traffic congestion, and improve the movement of people and goods.

Minister Umahi acknowledged the Gombe-Biu axis as a priority project for the current administration and assured the governor that the request for construction to begin from the proposed point of interest would receive due consideration. He also expressed confidence in the contractor, Hitech Construction Company, and commended Governor Yahaya for his dedication to the state's development. Umahi praised the governor's leadership, stating that Gombe exemplifies genuine development and visionary governance.
