IPS pensioner census: How to complete the form step by step

Paraguay’s Social Security Institute, known as IPS, has begun its mandatory Digital Data Update Census for retirees and pensioners. More than 90,000 people are expected to complete the process by Dec. 7.

The procedure begins at portal.ips.gov.py, where beneficiaries must select the yellow “Digital Census of Retirees and Pensioners” button. The form can be completed on a cellphone or computer and contains five main stages.

The first stage validates the beneficiary’s identity and contact details. It asks for nationality, the identity-card number and the IC number found on the back of the document. Retirees and pensioners must also provide an email address and telephone number for future contact with the institution.

The second stage covers housing. Users must enter their country of residence, department, city, neighborhood, house number, main address and the streets that intersect it. Those completing the census on a cellphone can also use the device’s location feature.

The third stage concerns family composition. It asks whether the beneficiary lives alone and how many people live in the home, including the beneficiary. IPS stressed that the census is not a proof-of-life procedure. Proof of life takes place every three months, and failing to complete it can suspend payments, while the census serves only to update personal and family information for greater security.
