Iran Calls for Dialogue as Trump Threatens Further Attacks

Iran called for dialogue on Monday after attacking US military targets in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, while President Donald Trump warned that Washington would respond to any further Iranian strike.

The attacks followed US strikes on the Iranian island of Larak on Sunday evening. Washington said it targeted Iranian missile launchers to prevent Iran from placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz.

The exchanges marked the first direct clashes between Iran and the United States in more than a month. Trump told a Fox News reporter, “We will hit them hard. There will be a response.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian took a different tone at a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan. He said continued war was not in Iran’s interest and called for dialogue and cooperation to prevent further uncertainty and conflict.
