Iran claims destroying US jets, US military says 'no damage'

Iran's state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) attacked the U.S. Al-Azrak air base in Jordan, destroying three F-35 fighter jets and damaging three other aircraft. The IRGC also claimed to have disrupted commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and that a tanker had broken a U.S. naval blockade.

In recent hours, Iranian state media has continued to report false claims by the IRGC.

However, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) swiftly dismissed these claims as "utterly false." In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, CENTCOM asserted that no U.S. aircraft were destroyed or damaged during recent Iranian attack attempts. The command stated that all missiles and drones launched by Iran were either intercepted or did not reach their intended targets.

CENTCOM also countered Iran's narrative on maritime security, stating that the IRGC's threats and attack attempts, not the U.S. blockade, pose a danger to commercial vessels and their crews. Regarding the tanker 'Nora', the U.S. military confirmed it did not breach the blockade, which is being enforced by over 20 warships, hundreds of aircraft, and thousands of personnel.
