Iran, Germany Discuss Strait of Hormuz Crisis and Conflict Resolution

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his German counterpart Johann Wadephul held a phone conversation to address the escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and explore avenues for ending the ongoing conflict. The discussion highlighted Iran's perspective on regional security and Germany's diplomatic efforts.

Ensuring security in the strait depends on halting US military operations, including what he described as Washington's naval blockade of Iranian ports.

Minister Araghchi asserted that the security of the vital waterway is contingent upon the cessation of U.S. military activities, which he characterized as a naval blockade of Iranian ports. He further called upon the international community to hold the United States accountable for any security and economic repercussions that might arise from a potential closure of the Strait.

This diplomatic exchange occurs as Iran's parliamentary commission for National Security and Foreign Policy has advanced a strategic initiative aimed at enhancing regional security and sustainable development in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, Iran is reportedly close to finalizing a deal with Oman concerning a legal framework for managing traffic through the Strait, though reopening the waterway may involve conditions such as compensation from the U.S.
