Iran's President says communication with Supreme Leader is 'very difficult at this moment'

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described communication with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Jamenei as "very difficult at this moment." Mojtaba Jamenei reportedly sustained injuries in an attack on Iran in February, which triggered the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. He has not appeared in public since succeeding his father, Ali Jamenei, who died in the same incident.

Pezeshkian, in a televised speech, acknowledged the difficulty in communicating but emphasized Mojtaba Jamenei's presence as a significant source of strength. While Mojtaba Jamenei has communicated through written statements, his low public profile amid Iran's conflict with the United States has fueled speculation regarding his health and relationships with other senior officials. He was notably absent from his father's funeral ceremonies last month.

Despite the speculation, Pezeshkian defended the Supreme Leader, asserting that their meetings have been "fruitful" and characterized by "cordiality." He stated that Mojtaba Jamenei's proposals are based on "very solid logic." The president suggested that "malicious individuals" are attempting to distort the Supreme Leader's image and present him in a negative light.

Pezeshkian's remarks come at a sensitive time for Iran, which is navigating regional tensions and internal political dynamics. The Supreme Leader's perceived absence or reduced public role raises questions about leadership continuity and decision-making processes within the country's highest echelons.
