Iran Targets Gulf Energy Facilities if US Attacks, Reports Say

Iran has reportedly identified major energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates as potential targets should the United States launch further attacks, according to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency. The report, published Saturday, comes amid rising concerns about potential conflict escalation in the region.

Fars stated that Washington is aware that vital energy infrastructure in the Gulf and Israel are within the range of Iran's precision missiles if the conflict were to expand. The identified facilities include Saudi Arabia's Ghawar oil field and the Abqaiq and Khurais processing plants. In the UAE, the targets listed are the Ruwais refinery and the offshore Zakum oil field.

Further targets mentioned are Qatar's North Field gas reserves and Ras Laffan LNG export terminal, Kuwait's Burgan oil field, Bahrain's Sitra refinery and Ma'ameer facilities, and Israel's Leviathan and Tamar gas fields. The report emphasized that attacks on these facilities would significantly impact the global energy market, with some described as critical to the world's crude oil and liquefied natural gas supplies.

Fars also recalled an incident during a previous 40-day war where Iran allegedly struck Qatar's largest gas processing facility after Tehran's South Pars gas field was attacked. This historical reference underscores the potential for severe repercussions in the energy sector.
