Iran threatens regional energy sites if US attacks its infrastructure

Iran's military has issued a stark warning, threatening to target regional energy and economic infrastructure if the United States follows through on its threats to strike Iranian sites. The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stated that Iran would prevent "even a single drop of oil" from being exported from the region should such attacks occur. The command also cautioned that further aggression could escalate the conflict beyond the region.

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, warning that any vessel seeking to pass through the strategic waterway must follow designated routes and previously announced arrangements.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi echoed these sentiments, promising a "powerful and decisive" response. He emphasized that Iran's defense policy operates on an "eye for an eye" principle, meaning any aggression, including attacks on infrastructure, would be met with retaliation. Those supporting such actions would also be considered legitimate targets, Araghchi added.

These declarations come in the wake of U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to destroy an Iranian bridge or power plant for every attack on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian military's statement also addressed the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that it remains closed and any vessel wishing to pass must adhere to designated routes and prior arrangements.
