Iran Warns Bulgaria Over Hosting US Aircraft, Cites Complicity Fears

Iran has issued a stern warning to Bulgaria, holding the nation responsible for permitting a US Air Force refueling aircraft to operate from a military base on its territory. Tehran views this decision as a dangerous escalation that could implicate Bulgaria in American and Israeli military operations targeting Iran.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei declared that Bulgarian decision-makers must account for what Tehran described as a "dangerous and unjustified" move. He asserted that this action could effectively reduce Bulgaria to the role of an accomplice in potential attacks against Iran.

Baghaei further alleged that Bulgaria has previously allowed US aircraft linked to operations against Iran to use Sofia Airport. This accusation, he stated, further heightens tensions between Tehran and Sofia, signaling a significant diplomatic rift.
