Iraola's Liverpool debut ends in draw at Anfield

Andoni Iraola's first official match as Liverpool manager at Anfield resulted in a disappointing 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest. The Spanish coach could only secure a point thanks to a spectacular late goal from Víctor Muñoz, failing to secure a victory in front of the home crowd.

Liverpool's start to the game was poor, falling behind early when Igor Jesus set up Morgan Gibbs-White, whose pass found Dan Ndoye for a low shot past Alisson Becker. A disallowed goal for Florian Wirtz and the 0-1 halftime scoreline amplified the doubts surrounding the team.

The team finally found an equalizer in the 60th minute when Alexander Isak finished a cross from Cody Gakpo. However, a defensive lapse allowed Nottingham Forest to regain the lead. Liam Delap's quick throw-in found Neco Williams, who was fouled by Alisson in the box, resulting in a penalty that was converted.

Víctor Muñoz, who had previously forced a penalty in their draw against Newcastle, scored a stunning goal in his first start to level the score again with about fifteen minutes remaining. Despite late attempts, Liverpool could not find a winner, and Nottingham Forest even came close to scoring a third. The draw leaves Liverpool with two points and Nottingham Forest with one.
