Island of Vir Reports Strong July Tourism Results, Exceeding Last Year's Figures

The island of Vir has once again solidified its position as one of Croatia's most successful tourist destinations, reporting nearly 930,000 overnight stays in July. This impressive figure marks a significant increase compared to the previous year, with arrivals up by 4.18% and overnight stays growing by 3.66%.

Vir stands out as one of the few Croatian tourist spots to achieve over 900,000 overnight stays within a single month. Nationally, it ranks second in this regard, trailing only Rovinj, which surpassed one million overnight stays in July. The total number of arrivals on Vir in July reached 59,275, encompassing both domestic and international visitors.

Slovenian tourists led in overnight stays among foreign visitors, accounting for 116,673 nights, a 6.64% increase from last year. Hungarians followed with 78,109 nights, despite a slight decrease of 3.98%. Germans recorded 69,020 nights with a 4.98% growth, while Slovaks had 59,991 nights (a 4.35% decrease), and Czechs registered 55,459 nights with a substantial 11.72% increase.

In terms of arrivals, Hungarians led with 10,417, followed by Slovenians (6,869), Slovaks (6,782), Czechs (5,838), and Germans (4,728). These five nations traditionally represent Vir's most important source markets. Foreign guests accounted for 75.2% of total arrivals and 51.6% of total overnight stays in July. In the commercial segment, Vir recorded 40,460 arrivals and 309,572 overnight stays, with Czechs and domestic guests showing the largest growth in commercial overnight stays.
