Israeli defense company says 1,000 suicide drones are ready for global deployment

Nearly 1,000 compact Israeli suicide drones are ready to be delivered to customers around the world, according to their manufacturer, Tel Aviv-based SpearUAV.

The company announced the milestone on LinkedIn for its Viper 300 loitering munition, an artificial intelligence-based system designed for armored divisions, specialized ground forces and tactical squads. SpearUAV says the drone can support reconnaissance and surveillance, asymmetric warfare, border patrol, homeland security and the elimination of high-value targets.

The Viper 300 weighs 2.8 kilograms, including its capsule and payload. Soldiers can carry it in a capsule or backpack, launch it while on foot or deploy it from a platform. The system has a five-kilometer range and 20-minute endurance. It can hover in place and use artificial-intelligence tools to acquire targets for precision attacks. The company says operators need only a short training period.

SpearUAV did not disclose the end-users or contracts behind the milestone. In its LinkedIn announcement, however, it said the achievement reflected the confidence of its growing international customer base and described the system as precise, mission-ready and easy for mounted or dismounted soldiers to use. The company said it is producing hundreds of systems each month.

The Viper 300 belongs to a wider family of encapsulated weapons that can launch from the air, ground or submarines. SpearUAV also produces the Viper 750 for naval use and the Viper 1, an interceptor designed to strike other systems rather than targets on the ground. The company says its systems have been used by the Israel Defense Forces and other militaries. It said the Viper 300 drew on lessons from conflict zones, including eastern Ukraine, where it is intended to provide real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance alongside precision-strike capability while maintaining a low operational signature.
