Israeli forces detain 70 Palestinians in West Bank raids

Israeli forces conducted widespread raids across the occupied West Bank on Saturday, detaining at least 70 Palestinians. The operations involved significant military presence, with forces reportedly seizing a house in the town of Tell, near Nablus, to use as a field interrogation center.

In parallel, eight Palestinians were injured in separate attacks carried out by illegal Jewish settler groups, according to Palestinian media and the Red Crescent Society. Settlers reportedly attacked Palestinian communities in the Nablus area, setting fire to homes and property.

These actions follow directives from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, who ordered large-scale military operations in Palestinian villages. This escalation appears to be a response to an attack near the illegal Havat Gilad settlement, which resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to three others.

The violence in the West Bank has surged dramatically since the start of the Gaza war following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed four residents died on Friday from attacks by settlers and Israeli forces in the town of Tell. Israeli military sources acknowledged violent clashes between settlers and Palestinians on Saturday, a day after six people were killed in other West Bank confrontations.
