Istanbul Dams Fall to 58% Occupancy Rate: İSKİ Releases Latest Figures

Istanbul's water reserves are showing a notable decline, with the average occupancy rate across the city's 10 major dams falling to 58.03% as of July 20, 2026. The Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (İSKİ) regularly releases these figures, which indicate a significant drop in water levels.

The situation varies across individual reservoirs. Ömerli Dam remains relatively full at 82.14%, and Darlık Dam is at 75.56%. However, other key dams are experiencing much lower levels. Terkos Dam is at 48.09%, Alibey Dam at 55.66%, and Büyükçekmece Dam at 41.52%. Several dams are critically low, including Sazlıdere Barajı at 34.35%, Istrancalar Barajı at 30.39%, Kazandere Barajı at 33.33%, and Pabuçdere Barajı at a concerning 29.35%.

This overall decrease in dam occupancy raises concerns about the city's water security, especially during periods of high demand. İSKİ's continuous monitoring and public reporting aim to keep citizens informed about the available water resources.
