Bears Feast on Cherries in Turkish Town; Another Dies Electrocuted on Pole

Bears have been sighted in residential areas of Trabzon, Turkey, as they search for food. In the Maçka district's Galyan Valley, a mother bear and her cub descended into the Ergin neighborhood. The pair were observed climbing a cherry tree and feeding on the fruit, with their unusual visit captured on mobile phone cameras by local residents.

The presence of wildlife in populated areas highlights the challenges of habitat encroachment and food scarcity. The bears' behavior, while natural for the species, can pose risks to both the animals and the human communities they encounter.

Tragically, a separate incident in the Çaykara district resulted in the death of another bear. This animal was seen climbing an electricity pole in a residential area. It came into contact with high-voltage lines and was electrocuted, dying instantly on the pole. This event was also recorded by onlookers.
