Istanbul’s neighborhoods with the highest and lowest quality of life revealed

Levent in Beşiktaş has been named Istanbul’s highest-quality-of-life neighborhood, while Hamidiye in Sultanbeyli received the lowest score in a study by the Marmara Municipalities Union.

The research assessed neighborhoods against 107 indicators, including education, healthcare, income levels, infrastructure, environmental awareness and resilience to disasters. Four neighborhoods from Beşiktaş, three from Şişli and two from Kadıköy appeared among the top 10.

Şişli’s Teşvikiye ranked second with 95.5 points, followed by Şişli’s Harbiye and Kadıköy’s Caddebostan. Beşiktaş also placed Nisbetiye, Bebek and Etiler in the top 10, while Beykoz’s Acarkent and Şişli’s Esentepe completed the list. Levent led the ranking with 100 points.

The lowest positions were largely occupied by neighborhoods and districts farther from Istanbul’s center. Sultanbeyli had three entries, while Pendik had two. The bottom 10 included Silivri’s Çanta Balaban, Arnavutköy’s Adnan Menderes and Fatih, Çatalca’s Gökçeali, Sultanbeyli’s Yavuz Selim and Mecidiye, Pendik’s Ramazanoğlu and Ertuğrul Gazi, and Başakşehir’s Şahintepe.
