Italian Embassy leads blood drive in Kuwait for World Donor Day

The Italian Embassy in Kuwait marked World Blood Donor Day by organizing a blood donation campaign, an initiative Ambassador Lorenzo Morini described as a testament to the strong relationship between Italy and Kuwait. The event underscored Italy's continuous presence and active engagement within Kuwait, demonstrating steadfast support through direct cooperation and coordination with local authorities.

Ambassador Morini noted that regular technical exchanges occur between Italian and Kuwaiti institutions, particularly in security and defense, alongside broader cooperation in supply chains and essential services. He also highlighted ongoing discussions to expand collaboration in the healthcare sector, mentioning the presence of Italian doctors and specialists in Kuwait and exploring opportunities for institutional strengthening in this field. Dr. Reem Al-Radwan, Director of Kuwait's Central Department of Blood and Cellular Therapy, confirmed the ministry's commitment to collaborating with embassies and organizations for blood donation drives. She stated that the Italian campaign is part of the ministry's World Blood Donor Day events, aimed at bolstering blood reserves as a precautionary measure. Al-Radwan assured that Kuwait's blood supply is secure and meets hospital demands, noting a recent surge in community participation, with monthly donors increasing from approximately 8,000 to over 10,000, targeting over 100,000 donations annually.
