Jakarta Authorities Sanction All Parties Involved in Illegal Waste Dumping in Dukuh

Jakarta authorities have taken action against all parties involved in illegal waste dumping in Dukuh, East Jakarta. The Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) inspected the site on August 3, 2026, leading to administrative sanctions for three individuals. These sanctions target those responsible for receiving, transporting, and disposing of waste at a location not designated for waste management, aiming to prevent environmental pollution.

Marulina Dewi, head of the DKI Jakarta Communication, Informatics, and Statistics Agency, stated that the investigation revealed multiple parties with different roles in the illegal dumping. "Administrative sanctions have been imposed on parties proven to have violated regulations," she said. "Law enforcement will continue consistently to realize orderly and sustainable waste management."

Dewi emphasized that improper waste disposal poses significant risks, including environmental contamination, public nuisance, and increased health and fire hazards. "This law enforcement aims to build compliance and prevent recurrence," she asserted. "Waste must be sorted and managed according to regulations, not dumped in unauthorized locations."

Agus Setiyo, who guarded the site, admitted to accepting waste, including construction debris, from others. He was fined Rp5 million and paid it on August 4, 2026. Further investigation led to the summons of Tri Joko and Habib, who were involved in transporting and dumping the waste. Joko admitted to providing waste transport services, while Habib confessed to using a pickup truck without a permit to dump waste at the unofficial site.

Tri Joko and Habib were each fined Rp5 million. The DLH has also posted signs prohibiting dumping and increased surveillance at the site to prevent future illegal activities.
