Jakarta Braces for Partly Cloudy Skies Amid Active El Niño Warning

Jakarta residents can expect partly cloudy conditions throughout Sunday, as forecasted by the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The agency's @infobmkg channel indicated that this weather pattern would prevail across all administrative areas of the capital and the Thousand Islands, persisting into the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures in Jakarta are expected to hover between 28 and 29 degrees Celsius. This forecast comes as the BMKG has issued a significant warning regarding the El Niño phenomenon, which has become active and shows potential to reach a "very strong" level.

The active El Niño poses a considerable risk, predicted to trigger a drier and more prolonged dry season across much of Indonesia. This heightened dryness increases the vulnerability to drought and could have substantial impacts on various strategic sectors. Consequently, the BMKG emphasizes the urgent need to bolster national mitigation and preparedness strategies to address these potential challenges.
