Jakarta Celebrates 499th Anniversary with Colorful Cultural Festival

Jakarta vibrated with color and culture as it celebrated its 499th anniversary with the "Jakarta Penuh Warna" (Colorful Jakarta) event. Held on Sunday during the weekly "Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor" (Car Free Day) in the Bundaran HI area, the second edition of the festival embraced the theme "National Spirit and Diversity for Jakarta, a Global City."

The event showcased a vibrant display of Nusantara's diverse cultural dances, highlighting the rich heritage of the Indonesian archipelago. Dancers in traditional attire moved through the streets, adding a dynamic and colorful spectacle for the attendees who gathered to mark the occasion.

Participants actively engaged with the festivities, with many warga (residents) capturing memories by taking selfies with the iconic Ondel-Ondel figures, traditional Betawi folk puppets. The celebration served as a platform to foster a sense of national pride and unity, emphasizing Jakarta's role as a melting pot of cultures on the global stage.
