Jakarta Governor Claims No Areas in Capital Facing Drought

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has stated that the capital city has not yet experienced any worrying drought conditions. He assured that water availability in Jakarta remains relatively sufficient.

Until today, Jakarta has not experienced worrying drought.

Despite the current lack of severe drought, the Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing anticipatory measures. This is in response to predictions that the dry season might be longer this year. The governor indicated that the administration will take steps to ensure water availability if the dry season extends.

We continue to take anticipatory steps if the dry season lasts longer and impacts water source availability.

Governor Anung also announced plans for a special meeting next week to discuss preparedness for potential drought. The meeting will also serve to inform the public about the steps the provincial government is taking. Additionally, the administration intends to use the dry season to expedite river normalization projects, including those on the Ciliwung, Cakung Lama, and Krukut rivers. Normalization will be accelerated in areas where land has been acquired.

Specifically, next week I will lead a meeting to discuss preparedness for potential drought and also inform the public about the steps that have been prepared by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.
