Jakarta Prepares Traffic Diversions for August 27th Protest

Jakarta's Transportation Agency is gearing up to manage traffic flow during a planned protest at the DPR building on Thursday, August 27th, 2026. A total of 120 officers will be on duty, split into two shifts, to ensure order and mitigate potential congestion.

Budi Awaluddin, head of the agency, advised the public to anticipate travel disruptions, especially in areas affected by the demonstration. The agency has prepared a three-zone traffic engineering plan, with officers positioned in Zone 3 to implement situational adjustments as needed.

The affected road sections include Jalan Letjen S Parman in Zone 1, with potential diversions if congestion occurs. Zone 2, covering the Senayan-Gatot Subroto-Sudirman corridor, may see traffic diverted from Cawang via Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto. Zone 3, encompassing the DPR/MPR RI and Istana areas, will also implement situational diversions, including rerouting traffic from Tomang towards Cawang via Jalan Tomang Raya and other routes, and from Cawang towards Tomang via Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto.

Motorists are encouraged to follow instructions from traffic officers and utilize alternative routes to minimize delays. The agency's proactive measures aim to ensure public safety and maintain mobility despite the planned protest.
