Jakarta to Manage Thousand Islands Transport via Transjakarta from 2027

Tourists will find it easier to travel to the Thousand Islands starting in 2027, as the DKI Jakarta provincial government has tasked PT Transjakarta with managing sea transportation to the archipelago. Governor Anung stated that the current management by the Transportation Agency has been suboptimal due to bureaucratic issues.

"Unlike private or state-owned enterprises or private companies. Therefore, we have decided that starting next year, it will be fully managed by Transjakarta," Anung said. He believes Transjakarta's experience in managing public transport within Jakarta, including its Transjabodetabek service connecting to surrounding areas, makes it well-suited for this new role.
