Jakarta Unveils Transportation Upgrades for 499th Anniversary, Connecting JIS and Ancol

Jakarta's provincial government is celebrating the city's 499th anniversary with a series of infrastructure gifts, including the newly activated JIS KRL Station and a direct link to the Ancol recreational area. This integrated development aims to enhance connectivity and public transport options for residents and visitors.

The JIS-Ancol infrastructure package, inaugurated on June 22, 2026, features the KRL station, a pedestrian bridge, and an Ancol gate. Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that these improvements address long-standing issues with access and parking, particularly during large-scale events at the stadium.

The enhanced connectivity is expected to encourage greater use of public transport, thereby reducing private vehicle use and traffic congestion around JIS.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi confirmed that the JIS KRL Station began serving passengers on June 22, 2026, with plans for further development into a permanent station to boost capacity and service quality. The new station significantly shortens travel time to Jakarta Kota station and strengthens the rail network in North Jakarta.
