Japan Embassy Hosts Reception to Back Kuwaiti Athletes Ahead of Asian Games

The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait held a reception at the Ambassador's residence to rally support for Kuwaiti athletes preparing for the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games. Both events are scheduled to take place in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, from September 19 to October 4 and October 18 to 24, respectively.

Japanese Ambassador Mukai Kenichiro welcomed attendees, praising the Kuwaiti athletes' achievements and expressing optimism for their performance. He noted that the athletes' journey to the Asian stage reflects the robust friendship between Japan and Kuwait, fostered through sports. Ambassador Mukai recalled Kuwait's success at the 2023 Asian Games, specifically mentioning the dramatic 110-meter hurdles final where Kuwait's Yaqub Al-Yuha and Japan's Shuya Aoyama shared gold, as well as the victories of shooter Abdullah Al-Rashidi and karateka Fahad Al-Azmi.

Ambassador Mukai urged the Kuwaiti delegation to perform their best, stating, "When you stand on the field, you carry the expectations and the cheers of all the people of Kuwait." Kuwait's Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs, Dr. Tariq Hamad Al-Jalahma, conveyed confidence in the athletes' abilities. The reception drew over 70 guests, including leaders from the Kuwait Olympic Committee, Kuwait Paralympic Committee, and the Kuwait Disabled Sports Club, alongside government officials and sports federation representatives. The event underscored the goal of promoting Kuwait-Japan relations through sports.
