Japanese bands to headline 2026 Rock in Taichung festival

The highly anticipated "2026 Rock in Taichung" festival is set to electrify the city from October 31 to November 1, promising a vibrant showcase of musical talent. Now in its 19th year, the festival will take place at the Taichung Metropolitan Park and the Wenxin Forest Park, featuring a dynamic lineup that bridges local and international acts.

This year's festival boasts a strong contingent of Taiwanese artists, including the Golden Melody Award-winning band MIXER, the popular indie group Sorry Youth, Sweet John, and Mango Jump. Adding an international flair, the lineup also includes acclaimed Japanese idol rock groups "ぜんぶ君のせいだ。" (Zenbu Kimi no Sei Da.) and THE ORCHESTRA TOKYO, promising a diverse range of sounds and styles.

Continuing its tradition of cross-cultural exchange, Rock in Taichung is partnering for the third time with the ROOKIE A GO-GO Stage from Japan's Fuji Rock Festival, supported by Levi's. This collaboration will bring Japanese bands Hashirikomies and yubiori to Taiwan. In a reciprocal move, the Taiwanese band A_Root Tong Gen Sheng, recommended by Rock in Taichung, will perform on the ROOKIE A GO-GO stage at the Fuji Rock Festival on July 25.

The festival's programming spans multiple genres, including rock, alternative, indie, Emo, and idol music, featuring performances by bands such as Our Shame, hue, EVENFALL, Seizer, and Captain Ordinary. This diverse offering underscores Taichung's commitment to fostering a rich and varied music scene.
