Japarov Responds to Concerns Over Soaring Food Prices

President Sadyr Japarov has addressed public concerns over rising food prices, stating that the government is actively working to manage the situation. In an interview with journalist Ali Toktakunov, Japarov acknowledged that the increase in prices is a global phenomenon affecting Kyrgyzstan.

He explained that the country produces six out of nine essential food products domestically, while the remaining three must be imported. To stabilize the cost of meat, the government has allocated 500 million Kyrgyz som to maintain prices between 650 and 750 som per kilogram. "The state is not sitting idly by. We are doing everything within our power," Japarov stated, emphasizing the efforts of the government and the Antimonopoly service.

However, the president also conceded that in situations where there is "no way out," the government's ability to intervene is limited. Despite these constraints, Japarov assured the public that all feasible actions are being taken to cushion the economic blow of global inflation on the population.
