Jason Ranti Prepares New Album, Targets 2026 Release

Indonesian musician Jason Ranti is deep in the process of creating a new album, aiming for a 2026 release. This upcoming work, tentatively named 'Sesudah Pergaulan Blues,' is set to follow his acclaimed debut, 'Akibat Pergaulan Blues,' which marked his career with its blend of satire, reflection, and social commentary.

Ranti, known to fans as Jeje, shared his thoughts on the creative journey during an exclusive interview with Tempo backstage in Palembang. He stressed that crafting music is not merely about recording events but requires a period of maturation for both experiences and emotions. "Feelings also need a fermentation process within us," Ranti explained. "Everyone is different in how they can bring forth their work. If I talk about it now, I'm afraid the song might not get made."

He views music as a powerful medium capable of fostering emotional connections between listeners and the stories conveyed. "Melody is a very good vehicle," he stated. "Any message can be delivered through it. Music provides space and time for reflection, something that is largely lost today."

Ranti also touched upon the greatest challenge for artists today, which he believes is not external pressure but the tendency to lose touch with oneself. "The dangerous thing for an artist is trying to be someone else," he said. "Busy listening to tests or criticisms, but forgetting to listen to yourself. That's why it's important to have a dialogue with yourself."
