JCC2026: Queens of the Caribbean Defeat Costa Rica in Debut

The Dominican Republic's national women's volleyball team launched their title defense at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games with a commanding 3-0 sweep against Costa Rica. The host nation showcased their dominance from the outset, securing the first set 25-14. The team continued their relentless attack in the second set, overwhelming Costa Rica with a 25-09 victory. The third set saw a similar pattern, with the Dominican team closing out the match 25-12, despite coach Marcos Kwiek giving playing time to reserve players.

Brayelin Martínez spearheaded the Dominican offense with nine points, supported by Gaila González with five and Yonkaira Peña with seven. Flormarie Heredia Colón also made significant contributions from the bench, delivering powerful spikes that energized the home crowd.
