Jeff Bezos Reportedly Nears Deal to Become Liverpool FC Co-Owner

Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is reportedly close to acquiring a significant stake in the renowned Premier League club Liverpool FC. He is said to be part of an investment group that is nearing an agreement to purchase approximately one-third of the club's ownership.

According to reports, the investment consortium is led by Amit Bhatia, who is the son-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal and a former shareholder of Queens Park Rangers. Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin is also rumored to be involved in the group. Sky News suggests that Liverpool's current owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), might announce the deal as early as this week.

The proposed investment reportedly values the club at around 4.4 billion pounds ($5.9 billion). FSG purchased Liverpool in 2010, and this valuation would represent a substantial increase in the club's worth under their stewardship. FSG has previously shown openness to external investment while aiming to maintain control over the club's operations.

Neither Liverpool FC nor FSG has officially commented on these developing reports, as cited by Reuters. The potential involvement of high-profile figures like Bezos and Saverin underscores the immense global appeal and financial value of top-tier football clubs.
