Jefferson-Wooden beats Alfred in Silesia, Seville takes men's sprint

World champion Melissa Jefferson-Wooden handed Olympic gold medalist Julien Alfred her first defeat of the season in a thrilling women's 100-meter race at the Silesia Diamond League. Jefferson-Wooden clocked a season's best of 10.78 seconds, narrowly beating Alfred, who finished second with 10.83 seconds, her best time this season but not enough to secure victory.

American Sha'Carri Richardson took third place in 10.96 seconds. Alfred expressed disappointment despite her strong performance, stating, "Running in a race of this quality feels amazing. I missed it a lot. But I am in second place, so great is not the right word, rather disappointed."

In the men's 100 meters, Oblique Seville of Jamaica claimed victory with a time of 9.83 seconds, looking in strong form ahead of the World Athletics Ultimate Championships. He edged out American Kenny Bednarek (9.87) and former world champion Chris Coleman (9.90).
