Jendouba Dam Construction Faces Tight Deadlines

Tunisia's Ministry of Agriculture is pressing contractors to accelerate work on the strategic Raghai dam in Jendouba, a project vital for the region's economic and social development. Officials inspected the site, emphasizing the need for intensified efforts and better coordination to adhere to contractual timelines. The dam, with a planned capacity of 30 million cubic meters, is expected to significantly improve water resources. It will provide drinking water to local populations, irrigate agricultural lands, and replenish the groundwater table. This infrastructure is seen as a key driver for progress in a governorate that has long awaited such a development. The inspection included assessing the construction base, equipment, and operational readiness, with practical measures identified to overcome potential obstacles and ensure continuous progress. The project involves the Ministry of Agriculture's General Directorate of Dams and Hydraulic Works, a Chinese construction company, and an engineering consortium overseeing the work.
