JIS Station Becomes New Magnet, Weekend Passengers Soar

The Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station has become a significant draw, experiencing a remarkable 300% surge in weekend passenger numbers since its official operation began. This substantial increase is attributed to the growing public interest in utilizing the JIS area for sports and recreational activities. KAI Commuter reported that the volume of passengers at JIS station significantly outpaced weekday numbers during its initial operational week. The station served 4,203 passengers between June 22-28, with an average of 250 passengers daily on weekdays and a peak of 1,271 passengers on Sunday, June 28. A special promotional fare of Rp1 for the Commuter Line Tanjung Priok, applicable for boarding or alighting at JIS station, has also garnered positive responses, with 1,232 passengers utilizing the offer during the same period. This heightened ridership underscores the demand for accessible public transportation linked directly to the JIS area and its surrounding public spaces. KAI Commuter plans to continue collaborating with government and stakeholders to enhance facilities and services at JIS station.
