João Campos allies push for Lula's campaign visit to Pernambuco amid poll deficit

Supporters of João Campos, the PSB candidate, are intensifying their calls for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to join campaign activities in Pernambuco. This push comes as Campos faces a widening deficit against incumbent Governor Raquel Lyra of the PSD party.

A recent poll by Quaest revealed Lyra holds an eight-point lead over Campos. Senator Humberto Costa (PT-PE) emphasized the importance of Lula's early involvement, noting its crucial role in shifting scenarios in other states like Bahia and Rio Grande do Norte. "The president's visit as soon as possible would be important," Costa stated.

Carlos Veras, the federal deputy and PT president in the state, confirmed that the party is actively working to arrange Lula's visit. "We are working to have him there with us," Veras said. Currently, Campos has only secured video messages from Lula and a promise that the president will visit the state before the campaign concludes.

However, the situation is complicated by Lula's positive relationship with Governor Lyra. Despite the campaign's efforts, Lula's direct participation in Pernambuco remains uncertain, leaving Campos's campaign hoping for a significant boost from the president's endorsement.
