John Stones officially joins Inter Milan

English defender John Stones has officially become an Inter Milan player, joining the Italian club on a free transfer this summer. The club announced on Friday that Stones has signed a two-year contract.

The English international revealed he communicated with former Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji about playing for Inter Milan. Stones mentioned that Akanji provided the information he needed about the club and that he is looking forward to working with him again, calling Akanji one of the best defenders he has played with. "I'm very happy to be teammates with him again; he's one of the best defenders I've ever played with, and I'm excited to play alongside him again, as well as with other players I've faced, both at club and national team level, and whose quality I already know. Since his 2016 transfer from Everton to Manchester City for £47.5 million, Stones has made 295 appearances across all competitions.
