Johor State Official Denies Corruption Probe Involvement, Threatens Defamation Suit

Mohd. Fared Mohd. Khalid, the Chairman of Johor's Islamic Affairs Committee, has vehemently denied accusations of misconduct and involvement in any Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) investigations. The allegations were made by former Johor State Assembly Speaker Datuk Dr. Mohd. Puad. "I strongly deny these allegations. I am not involved in any investigation conducted by the SPRM," Mohd. Fared stated. He asserted that he had already passed SPRM vetting before being re-selected as a candidate for Semerah in the recent state election. Mohd. Fared characterized Mohd. Puad's claims as "malicious slander and irresponsible defamation." He has issued a 24-hour ultimatum for Mohd. Puad to retract the accusations and issue a public apology. Failure to comply will result in a defamation lawsuit aimed at clearing his name. The former Speaker had alleged that Mohd. Fared was under SPRM investigation concerning governance and cronyism issues related to the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Islamic University College (KUIJSI). Mohd. Fared emphasized that the apology should be made officially across all media platforms to ensure public understanding. He expressed confidence that the matter could be resolved amicably, setting a positive example of Islamic etiquette and conduct.
