Jokowi predicts 'big victory' for PSI in 2029 elections as party completes national structure

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, widely known as Jokowi, has expressed strong optimism about the Indonesian Solidarity Party's (PSI) prospects in the upcoming 2029 general election. Speaking at a regional coordination meeting of PSI in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Jokowi declared that the party is poised for a "big victory."

Jokowi highlighted the party's comprehensive organizational structure, stating that PSI's leadership has been established across all levels of Indonesia, from provincial coordinating boards (DPW) down to the neighborhood (RT) and community unit (RW) levels. He reported that DPW formations are complete at 100 percent, with district/city (DPD) levels at 97 percent and sub-district (kecamatan) levels at 84 percent. He anticipates full completion by the end of 2026.

"This is actually (district/city level leadership) already one hundred percent, but because there is still a commotion about the chairman with his rival, it's still 3 percent left, but it's actually finished," Jokowi remarked, referencing ongoing internal party dynamics.

The President believes that a complete organizational structure will serve as a powerful "engine" for the party, enabling it to achieve significant electoral success in 2029. He stressed the importance of this structure being functional and effective in its operations.

Furthermore, Jokowi called upon PSI's members, cadres, and supporters to actively introduce themselves to the Indonesian public. He urged them to remain present and assist communities, ensuring their actions provide direct, positive impacts. Jokowi was in Kupang for a three-day visit, engaging in various activities including meeting with seaweed fishermen and participating in a cultural carnival.
