Jonas Vingegaard to race Tour de France with Italian climber Davide Piganzoli joining Visma team

Jonas Vingegaard will officially compete in the Tour de France after being selected for the Visma team, which unveiled its full lineup on YouTube. The team's roster includes Matteo Jorgenson, Sepp Kuss, Victor Campenaerts, Bruno Armirail, Edoardo Affini, Per Strand Hagenes, and Davide Piganzoli.

Wout van Aert's absence due to injury created an open spot on the team. Van Aert played a crucial role in Vingegaard's previous Tour de France victories in 2022 and 2023. Davide Piganzoli, a different type of rider, will fill the vacancy. Piganzoli impressed on the climbs during this year's Giro d'Italia, a race Vingegaard also won overall in May.

Visma's sports director, Marc Reef, expressed the team's ambition during the presentation, promising a strong challenge to Tadej Pogacar for the overall win. The Tour de France is set to begin on July 4th with a team time trial in Barcelona, Spain, and will conclude on July 26th.
