Jonatan Christie Rises to World No. 3 in BWF Rankings

Indonesia's Jonatan Christie has climbed to world No. 3 in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) men's singles rankings, a significant achievement in the competitive sport. Christie now boasts 89,231 ranking points, moving past Denmark's Anders Antonsen, who dropped to fourth with 87,705 points.

The 28-year-old's ascent follows his quarterfinal appearance at the 2026 China Open. Although his run ended with a straight-games defeat to Canada's Victor Lai, 14-21, 17-21, this marked his second consecutive loss to Lai. Despite this setback, Christie remains Indonesia's top-ranked men's singles player.

He now trails only China's Shi Yu Qi, who leads the rankings with 94,255 points, and Thailand's Kunlavut Vitidsarn, who holds second place with 91,215 points. Other notable players in the top 10 include France's Christo Popov, Taiwan's Chou Tien Chen, and Canada's Victor Lai, who climbed to seventh.

Meanwhile, fellow Indonesian Alwi Farhan narrowly missed a return to the top 10, remaining at world No. 11 with 69,419 points. The 21-year-old's recent performance saw him suffer a first-round exit at the China Open. However, teenage prospect Moh Zaki Ubaidillah, also known as Ubed, reached a career-high ranking of No. 25 with 46,291 points, earning valuable points at the Japan Open. Ubaidillah will compete next at the Taipei Open 2026.
