Josué “N” sentenced to 50 years for kidnapping truck driver on Mexico-Puebla highway

Josué “N” received a 50-year prison sentence after intercepting a tractor-trailer on the Mexico-Puebla highway and taking its driver hostage, according to prosecutors.

The judge also ordered him to pay a fine of 347,520 pesos, provide compensation for the damage and relinquish his civil and political rights. The ruling followed a criminal trial in Puebla led by federal prosecutors assigned to the Specialized Regional Control Office.

Investigators said the incident took place in October 2020. Josué “N” allegedly used violence and threatened the driver with a knife before forcing him to keep driving the truck. The vehicle pulled a semitrailer carrying 2,350 boxes, each containing 12 one-liter bottles of agave liquor. The merchandise was valued at 425,336 pesos.

Municipal police in San Martín Texmelucan learned of the incident through a radio report. Officers identified and intercepted the vehicle, arrested the suspect and released the victim.
